Since I had the site down for more than two years, I have so many pictures to choose from. I've been trying to spread them out and give some variety but today's shot was probably about 50 yards from yesterday's photo. As you can see, the clouds on this day (which happened to just be Christmas Eve) were gorgeous. Incredibly streaking and in all directions which I found especially odd and unique.
What you looking at here is the massive sandbar that peaks up during the low tides in Savannah. You can walk just about an extra mile between Tybee Island and Little Tybee Island at low tide but you have to time it right because it's very easy to get stranded out there. Once the tide starts coming in, it starts on the outsides of this sandbar and the rush of water that forms between the actual island and the sandbar is enough to rip you off your feet. Once that happens, your pretty much in the back river just swimming for shore against the current. Not a good situation and one that I saw many times when I was a lifeguard out there in college. I'd say that at least twice a week we were rescuing someone from this area.
