From Right to Left

This single picture more or less can sum up my entire trip to Yellowstone National Park. Starting from the right, you can see a small cloud of steam from a geothermal vent in the ground. These are what most people think of when they think of Yellowstone. Moving slightly to the right and extending to the left side of the picture is a normal fresh water stream but parts of these streams are mixed with the geothermal water/chemicals from the overflow of the vents. Above that we have a hillside which honestly looks a bulldozer game through and plowed down the trees. Apparently from huge park fires in both 1988 and 1998, the park has still not full recovered due to the extremely hard winters and short growing season. Moving upward in the picture you reach the incredible blue sky. As you'd expect, Yellowstone has some amazing views but the nicest part in my opinion was the incredibly clean air and beautiful white puffy clouds. Surprisingly, it was pretty hot during my trip with highs in the 90s during the peak of the day but the evenings were comfortable and pleasant. It was a real treat and a nice change to get out of the intense summer heat of central Florida.

I would highly recommend that if you ever get the chance to go to Yellowstone that you do it. You'll see things that will give you a whole new respect for the wonders of the earth and the shear power of it. I had the opportunity to go a few years back and decided to pass it up but I was much smarter this time around and am glad I was. It was gorgeous!

This photo does not have any GPS data associated with it. It's my goal to have GPS data for all my photos but unfortunately it is just not always possible.
