As any photographer knows, the most important aspect of any picture is the one you cannot see; Light. Although light is largely uncontrollable, it can be utilized in interesting ways which I think this shot demonstrates. The shadow of the faucet is almost at a perfect angle to show the details of the threaded tip while giving the photo some sense of scale and angle. My favorite aspect is how the shadow is not covering any of the actual faucet itself and only the base that is against the wall (the sun was perfect for just a few minutes to capture this shot).
So next time your out shooting, take a look not just at shadows but how you can utilize the shadows to enhance your shots.

Very nice graphical shot. I like that kind of photography! Good eye that you managed to keep the upper edge of the metal plate in line with the edge between white and metal of the faucet!
