It has been a while since I’ve updated with a new picture but I thankfully I haven’t wasted all the time between this and last photo. I’ve taken the time to update the site to Django 1.0.2 and more importantly I have finally put everything in SVN. If you don’t know what I am talking about then don’t worry about, this type of geek talk probably wouldn’t interest you that much anyway. Basically, it just means that I will be able to develop on the site without interrupting the up time of the site. So whether I am redesigning or just making new features for F/1.8, I won’t have another lengthy period where the site is down because of something I’ve coding wrong. At least that is the idea.
I few quick notes. In the move to Django 1.0.2, I wasn’t able to cleanly migrate the comments over to the new database. It’s on my list of todos as soon as I get the time. I was pretty happy to be able to cross two things of of my todo list during the downtime. First, comments finally have a URL field so commenters can leave comments with links back to their own site (it’s kind of sad I didn’t have this before but it was partially Django issue). Second, I’ve added a ‘overview’ map for the GPS data that displays directly below the standard zoomed in map. I thought this would give viewers a better idea of where the photo was taken and make the GPS metadata that much more useful. I’m still playing with the zoom level so feel free to let me know what you think works best.
Many people suffer from a common complication known as Comment Apprehension or CA. CA is common among visitors between the ages of fifteen and eighty-eight. CA is spreads quickly and prevents you from being an active member of your community. The only known cure for CA is to place your fingers at the ASDF JKL; position on the keyboard in front of you and begin typing. If that doesn't work, it is suggested you seek medical attention.
